If you’re looking for a relaxing break, we’d love to welcome you to stay at Kionslieu. If you’ve already experienced life here, you’ll know what to expect or perhaps not…

After a busy day exploring our beautiful island you can relax in the magical ‘Secret Garden’ with hot tub spa where you can shower under the stars (be warned it’s not heated!) or enjoy the hot tub spa.

In the ‘Beer Garden’, you can bbq in our unique tractor bucket bbq or order in a take out delivery to enjoy while watching the sun go down. While the beer garden is not licensed, you can order drinks to be delivered in advance from The Wine Cellar (delivery days Tuesday or Friday) or the Bottle Monkey

If you’re looking for a ‘bed and breakfast’ feel to your stay, why not order one of our delicious breakfast baskets? Complete with pancake batter (made with Manx milk and farm fresh eggs) enjoy freshly cooked pancakes with maple syrup, lemon and/or bananas!

Looking for a spa break? You can treat yourself to a facial or massage in the comfort of your cottage, just book direct with Gerry of Driftaway Mobile Therapy .

Our spacious cottages are set on a traditional south facing courtyard, fully equipped and sleeping from 2 to 6 guests. Surrounded by fabulous walks and cycles tracks and just a short distance from South Barrule & Archallagan Forests there is always lots to do.

Occasionally we can arrange late short breaks so just get in touch if you’d like to be added to our mailing list for these offers.

So why not get in touch to book your break, pack up your swim things and boots and come stay at Kionslieu?

There’s so much to do when you stay at Kionslieu , if you’d like to visit the stables, climb onto a tractor or walk a goat then do bring trainers or boots.

Be prepared for your visit to the Secret Garden and Hot Tub Spa

Included in the price of your break is a 40 minute slot for your private use of the hot tub, for each night of your stay, this can be reserved the day before. For insurance purposes you will need to sign a disclaimer, a copy of which is at the bottom of this page. Please do note that if you have a medical condition you should check with your GP in advance that it is ok for you to use the tub.

While we provide towels for use in the cottage we ask that along with your swimming costumes you bring your own hot tub towel and bathrobe or comfortable clothing to wear as the garden is a short walk from your cottage. We also suggest that you bring a peak cap, if you have one, as even if in the rain the hot tub is a wonderful place to relax and if very sunny it will keep the sun out of your eyes!

Below are links which you may find helpful when planning your stay with us:

  • You’ll be welcome to visit the stables with us, we’ll arrange the most suitable times. Hot tub disclaimer – to be signed on arrival

We hope that having use of the hot tub spa adds that little extra indulgence to your break and want you to have a pleasurable experience relaxing under the stars and enjoying the company of friends and family (subject to any restrictions imposed as the result of Covid-19)

PLEASE NOTE:

These rules and disclaimer are an important health and safety and legal requirement for hot tubs used in a commercial environment. As the lead guest, and signatory of this form, you are responsible for ensuring that ALL guests staying in your cottage are aware of, and strictly adhere to the guidelines for proper use of the hot tub.

The garden door key is stored in a key safe by the farmhouse and for safety reasons the door must be locked and key returned to the box when you leave the garden.

1. Time in the hot tub

  • The recommended time to use a hot tub is between 15 & 30 minutes. For each night of your stay with us, a 40 minute private session can be booked 24 hours in advance.

2. Children and Pregnancy

  • Risk to children – Extreme caution must be exercised to prevent unauthorised access by under age children.
  • The hot tub cover must remain closed at all times unless the tub is in use and a responsible adult present.
  • No children under 5 years old are permitted in the tub, as they cannot regulate their body temperatures suitably.
  • ALL children under 16 MUST be supervised at all times.
  • Use extreme caution with all children using  the hot tub as they are prone to overheating, which can be dangerous.
  • Please instruct your children to shower and visit the toilet prior to use of the tub and inform them to keep their heads out of the water (especially mouth and ears).
  • Pregnant women should consult their doctor before using the tub.

3. Warnings

  • People with infectious diseases are not permitted to use the hot tub.
  • Guests taking medication, who are pregnant, obese, have heart conditions, blood pressure problems, circulatory problems, skin conditions or diabetes should always consult their doctor before using the tub.
  • Please report any illnesses following hot tub usage to the owners immediately, it is extremely important if pneumonia-like symptoms are experienced and medical advice must be sought.
  • Do not use the tub immediately after strenuous exercise.
  • Prolonged use of the hot tub can lead to hyperthermia. This is a dangerous condition when the internal body temperature exceeds 37 degrees. Symptoms may include failure to perceive impending hazard, failure to perceive heat, failure to recognise need to leave the tub, unconsciousness and drowning.
  • Avoid drinking alcohol or using drugs before or in the hot tub. The hot water will amplify and speed the effects of any alcohol or drugs, alcohol makes you drowsy and falling asleep in hot water can be very dangerous. In addition to the risk of drowning, your body cannot regulate its temperature as well when you are asleep, which can lead to dangerous overheating.
  • Never leave one person alone in the tub or let them sleep in it. This could lead to drowning.
  • Never use electrical devices (including phones, radios, TVs or any other corded device) in or near the hot tub. If you must have one nearby, use a battery-powered device and place it on a table a safe distance from the water. Corded devices and outlets present a real risk of electrocution if they get wet!
  • Be cautious when using the hot tub during the winter. If the temperature outside the hot tub is below freezing, water splashed over the edge can quickly freeze into slippery ice. Also as with swimming pools, immediately exit and seek shelter if you see lightning, or during any other kind of threatening weather.
  • Do not drink the water, or allow the water to enter your mouth.

Before using the hot tub

  • Guests must shower before use to remove all creams/oils/deodorant, failure to do so will cause the hot tub to froth up and clog filters which may then put the tub out of action
  • Fake tan must not be used as it will require the tub to be emptied and cleaned, this will cause upset to other guests and will incur a cost of £100.
  • Swimming costumes must be worn.
  • Please remove jewellery.

Removing and replacing the cover.

  • There are 2 clips which secure the hot tub lid. You will be shown on arrival how to open and shut the tub.
  • Always strap the lid down and fasten both clips when you leave the tub. Failure to do so may end up with the lid being blown off and can damage the lid and its supporting arms, this could be very expensive to repair and you are liable for the cost.

Any damage caused to this hot tub by any of your party should be reported to the owners immediately and the lead guest will be liable for costs of repair.
